Well, legally, your 23 and she's 17, so that mean she's a minor. In your friend's case the girl is almost 19 so it's out of the whole being illegal thing. I guess that's the only reason I can think of why you shouldn't do it.
Another way of looking what your planning to do is try to put yourself in her dad's shoes. Would you want your 17 year old daughter to be dating a 23 year old guy?

OK so she's 17 then, is she?
I suggest waiting until she's 18 and then making your move. At least by then she's no longer jail bait.
Once the girl is legal, it doesn't really matter how many years younger she is than you. I've dated men 13-15 years older than me after I became legal.

my advice...if you really care for her, give her a chance to grow up for a few years before you actually date.
There is a huge difference between a 17 yr old being with a 23 yr old and a 20 yr old being with a 26 yr old!!
She needs a chance to be a young woman without the adult commitment you may be looking for.
God Bless!

Leave it be, maybe when she's of legal age and you are still interested in each other. She needs to be more mature. Age gaps are not as much a problem when you both are at least in your 20's.

No, you're by no skill to youthful for romance. good now you're in all probability infactuated it is the teenage version of affection. save on with your heart and who's your mom to tell you what YOUR heart is telling you? i wish I helped you. basically comprehend which you at the instant are not the only one "in love" on the age of 15. there are various others who experience the comparable way.

What's wrong with asking her out? it's not like you have to decide in that moment if you want to get hitched or something. If you have stuff in common the what's the problem. I know people with ten years difference in age!

keep in mind, that may be statutory depending on where you live. If her parents approve, then ok. Take it slow and dont come on too strong. Girls at her age are really vulnarable and sensitive so be easy on her and give her space to see what she really wants. Your friend is speaking from experience, so I'd think he knows what hes talking about.

if shes mature enough go for it if not dont coz young girls like to be dramatic thats just unwanted stress but if you two make each other happy go for it, my girl is 4 years younger then me but shes on my level so every thing is good.
