ask your Dr. generally, when you have gos heat the ambient humidity is very low. a room humidifier near your bed will help keep your mucous membranes moist and help you sleep better.
whole house humidifiers are available but very expensive. dehumidifiers are need if your surroundings seem damp, or if ironed clothes , your hair, etc. fall.

Dry climates often cause problems for some sensitive to low humidity. You may live in an area that is naturally dry or dryness may occur after turning on your heating system during a cold period-- without proper ventilation. Sometimes, just slightly opening a window will reduce the dryness. In my own case, during the cold period, I have learned to crack a window as well as use free standing humidifiers in rooms where I spend most of my time. Humidifiers on my furnaces alone did not solved my problem. I found out that I needed more humidity through trial and error. After moving into a new house (that was well insulated) I began to have dizziness, severe itching, twitching in my arms and legs (like ressless leg syndrome) and fuzzy thinking. Once I installed the humidifiers much of my problem was addressed. Later I learned to also crack a window, allowing me to reduce the level of humidity from my humidifiers. Humidifiers should be kept at a level that is not too high as to cause mildew or other damage and should be cleaned regularly. I could not live without my humidifiers. During the winter, I try to avoid places where I think the conditions may be dry. I have asthma and dryness seems to make me feel unwell. Hope this helps. CAT

a humidifier won't hurt you. If your place is really dry - your skin feels tight and your nose bleeds - then you definitely need one. Places like Bed Bath and Beyond sell humidifer thermometers so you can see houw hunid it is so you could try that too.
