i used to have a crush on one of my guy friends. he'd mentioned to me in casual conversation that he really needed new clothes, but never had time to go shopping. so, for christmas, i bought him a tshirt from american eagle. he really liked it, and loved that i remembered that from before.

try getting something simple that your guy has an interest in. like, maybe a trinket from his favorite sports team?
