These spots are called Milia. They're a type of cyst filled with a substance called keratin, a protein that provides strength to the skin. Milia don't appear to be related to different lifestyles or diets and are certainly not infectious or caused by poor hygiene.

Apart from making people worry about their appearance, milia aren't harmful and don't need to be treated in any way.

However, if you do want to get rid of them, the following may help:

Hold a hot, wet face cloth over the skin for a few minutes - the temperature should feel comfortable, not painful. This simple facial sauna helps to loosen and remove dead skin cells and debris from the skin.
Use an exfoliating facial scrub to remove the top layer of skin, which can enable the cysts to fall out. These scrubs are available from the pharmacist and are the kind of facial wash used for treating mild acne. Those containing salicylic acid work well, but always read the label or ask the pharmacist to make sure the one you select is suitable for you.

You may wish to have a consultation with a qualified beautician who'll also be able to recommend possible treatments.

Most importantly, resist the temptation to pick at them. This will hurt, damage and possibly scar the skin, and may introduce a nasty infection

Are they smooth (not raised) and basically just a discoloration of sorts? That's what I have on my legs sometimes. Little white dots sometimes pinkish. Someone told me one time that it's due to poor circulation. I do notice that I get more when I am cold or get a chill. I don't really know and have never had anyone give me a definitive answer. I would check with a dermatologist if they are causing any itching or swelling, etc.

They are most likely milia. Milia are deep seeded white bumps that form when skin cells become trapped rather than exfoliate naturally. The trapped cells become walled off into tiny cysts that appear like white beads below the surface of the skin. You will have to go to a dermatologist to remove them. They remove them with a lancet.

Try using clearisil face wash- its gentle and effective. Just get a nice routine going- steam ur face wih a hot cloth (do not rub) then massage a little clearasil, then press cloth against you face again (remember not to rub) perhaps also look at some eye gels. Boots or bodyshop sell em. keep moisturised:p
