Are yu asking about 3 crosses usually on a hill or along the road large ones? they were a project of a man from Indiana I believe? he has since passed. the story I heard was that he traveled around the country and erected them to make a statement of Christ.we have a lot of them in Ohio, another story says he was a trucker and wanted to witness to truckers as they drove the roads? some of the crosses have fallen into disrepair but a lot still stand!---I stand corrected!!thanks to Sabbycat7!!she has the web page. thanks sabbycat7!

A cross on a side of a road means someone died there. It's a commemorative symbol.
