Here's a perspective that's being missed above. What was well understood in early Christian text, by quantum physisist and well illustrated in Jesus' teachings is the fact that what you feel and what emotions you have create the reality around you. This goes by different names, but if you are interested look up Law of Attraction, or Lost Mode of Prayer. Now my point is, imagine that everything you and other people worried about in the world became a reality in space and time? The world would suck in a lot of ways wouldn't it? Welcome to planet earth. Now imagine if everyone in the world didn't worry about problems and simply accepted what was without the emotional intensity of worry and the attitude that something is wrong here, and that manifested peace in the world. We'd have a different world.

Bottom line what I believe Jesus was teaching, and why I believe it's said that it's a sin to worry, is because you create your worry in the world when you worry. Emotion is the language of creation. It's a sin in the sense that Jesus stood for peace and acceptance, if you worry you aren't creating peace, you're creating fear. The result of you and everyone on the planet worrying is what we have on Earth today.

hahaha Well, with all due respect "Jesus" didn't live in the days of credit card debt, and all kind of other things that are big causes of worrying today. Life is fast moving, and very intense nowadays, and we all have worries about one thing or another. You can't make a sin out of something that is absolutely natural and can't be helped. You can't just cop out of life, and say "Oh, I don't care about anything" In fact that is something of a selfish attitude, because if you refuse to tote your own load, somebody else has to do it for you. Way too much worrying, without doing something about the cause of it is equally foolish, because it gets you nowhere, but the ONLY way you can "stop worrying" about everything is to just turn your back on your personal obligations and responsilities, and if anything is a "sin" that is.

No, I don't think that it is a sin to worry even though Jesus said not to. I think that He wants you to know that He is there for you even when you feel like He is not there. I think He might want you to not worry about some of the little things that people worry about. THose are just some of the ideas that I have. I hope that I ahve been a help to you. Thanks for asking such a great question.

Jesus suffered and worried so you wouldn't have to. Worry is excessive thinking about an unpleasant thought. Where, tell me where, does sin enter into it?

The Bible says to cast all our cares upon God. Look up the defintion of sin, worry does not fit the general definition.

Yes, in many places in the bible, we're instructed to not worry. One of the more famous versuses is from Matthew 6:27 that states: "Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?" I believe worrying shows that you do not have real faith in that God will take care of you, providing for your every need. However, be careful to not confuse worrying with taking responsibility. Worrying is when you continuously dwell on something, usually with a negative feeling associated.

Some people will say so, but I think Jesus was telling people not to worry for their own good, and not actually commanding it. God bless

Matthew 6:34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

We are not to worry about things that we have no control over. People tend to worry about what will happen tomorrow, and this scrpture clearly says that tomorrow shall take care of it's self.
There is enough to deal with in the day we have at hand.

Psalms 37:8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.

To worry or to fret can cause us to do what is not righteous in the eye of God. To worry is to not put your trust and faith to work in God. How much faith can a person have in God';s will for them if they worry? What does that say about that person's faith in God?

If Jesus supplies the tiniest of birds with food, how much more important are you to Him than that little bird? He will take care of all of your needs, but you must place all of your faith in Him, and wait patiently for His will to take place in your life.
