I wouldn't stop all at once. I mean, drinking and smoking marijuana (if it was legal, which it may be where you live!) can be perfectly fine, every now and again, and in moderation. Unless you feel like you have a serious addictive personality, which it doesn't sound like you have, quitting cold turkey is not really necessary, and probably will make it more likely to start drinking and smoking more again later. I also wouldn't cut both down at the same time. There's only so much chemical change and withdrawal your body can realistically take before it smacks you back with serious compulsions. I'd say pick one or the other (the one you feel more dependent on) to cut your consumption in half with, and then, maybe when you feel comfortable with that, cut your consumption of the other in half. Then, you can decide if you want to keep cutting your consumption in half, or if you've reached a comfortable usage level. And once you feel comfortable with how much you're using each, you can set rules on how much you'll allow yourself, and self-penalties if you go over that limit on any given week. I think, unless you have a serious addiction problem, moderation and reasonable decreases is the key. Good luck. It sounds like you're making some good choices for your health and possibly the quality of your life. Kudos!

I'm in the same boat as you are, the only difference when I was younger I was forced into trying the stuff. Then I was offered the second time and regrett ably agreed to smoke another one the next day I was hooked and never looked back, spent untold thousands of dollars and still can't stop. I have quit for several months but have always gone back to the stupid stuff I wished I would have walked away from the second time it was offered by the same person who forced me into it.Now I'm having sever breathing problems because of the amount I smoke and I don't smoke cigarettes. I learned to despise drug dealers and if I had my way I'd execute every drug dealer after what I've seen.It doesn't matter how decent you are to a dealer they'll always spit you out.

Honey, you need to get into a program. You are doing the first step now, reaching out for help, look in the phone book for N,A.Or maybe you have a health dept. where you live. They can get you help. You may have to go awau to a rehab. for 30 days since you have been smoking for 7yrs.I just wish I could be right there with you because here you are reaching out for help and I feel so helpless. Just please pick up the phone, make some calls. If you want it bad enough you will find it. Please take care and God bless!!!!

Trust me, you can do it! Weed is a psychological addiction...You just have to have will power. I was a heroin addict for 5 years and stopped that **** all by myself, with no detox meds or anything. And heroin is a physical addiction that leaves your body craving for more and when your body doesnt have it, it makes you experience incredible pain, sickness, and a lot of other unpleasant stuff...So if I can quit heroin, you can most definitely quit weed! Good luck:)

It is very hard, but you need to find another craving. Look for something that can substitute the weed. Like chocolate... or I don't know... something.

I loved it myself and found that only making up my mind that I absolutely HAD to pass a drug test for employment made me give it up.
Something about the need to eat and live indoors did it for me -- quite a while back.

Sign up in drug and alcohol abuse class and stick with it. They have professional helper and you will be surprised how much this will help you. First thing to do for yourself, change friends if they do it. Stay away from the temptation.

Psychological dependence, not physical, so it is just mind over matter. Find a hobby and possibly a new group of friends.
