Interesting Stuff Your Doctor Probably Won't Tell You: Paxil and Paxil CR (paroxetine hydrochloride) happen to be those types of meds that if you stop taking it and start up again, they won't work as well as it used to. Even if you stop for just a couple of days. You have to be totally med compliant with Paxil and/or Paxil CR (paroxetine hydrochloride) or it's pointless. Symptoms may even worsen, which may have something to do with the rash of suicidal acts and ideation amongst adolescents on Paxil / Seroxat, as teenagers are as bad as the bipolar when it comes to being med compliant. Obviously mileage varies, and I've even read a few accounts of people switching from one form to the other to get over the problem of Paxil no longer working. However, I've read far more accounts of people where any form of Paxil not working after they were non-compliant or had to switched to another med or ran out or whatever and then tried to start again.

On the subject of discontinuing antidepressants, it turns out that their withdrawal can trigger mania. So you always have to be careful when using them if you're bipolar.

Yes I am on it! It works well!

I only take mine when needed! Especially during PMS but not every month is it needed, I am bipolar with P.T.S.D. lately I have been taking one here or there just to help me along through the holidays, it's bad enough with 33 people on your gift list then add 6 birthdays in the month of Dec. as well and well I am on a fixed income, I can't tell you when I saw the sun last...

I also take a muscle relaxer as well because somedays I am sooo tense my shoulders feel like stone!

I was on it before in the past two different times for months on end taking it daily it works well this is my choice of drugs when I "must" be on them. The time before last time they gave me generic and I could tell a big difference! It made me shake and I could not sleep so the switched me back to the non generic and now I don't have those side effects, just b/c that happened to me does not mean it could happen to you.

I have tried many other antidepressants and other drugs for depressions and bipolar as well as for P.T.S.D. and this is the only thing I found that worked and works well with very low side effects!

I would at least try it.
