There is probably nothing to worry about at all and it is probably just a hormonal thing associated to his age.
However, Please ask to be referred to a breast care clinic to be on the safe side. The people there would much rather find a normal hormonal lump that is "wasting their time" than not see him at all. (9 out of 10 lumps examined in a breast care unit are not cancerous)
More than 200 men per year get breast cancer. When caught in the early stages, it is very treatable. Unfortunately, men tend to assume that it will go away by itself or don't even realise that is an applicable disease.
I fully expect that none of this doom and gloom applies to your son, but it is always best to be on the safe side
All the best

It sounds like his hormones are kicking in. My son was 14 when we discovered a lump just around the nipple area but the doc said it was nothing to worry about. As in all cases of lumps and bumps it's still best to seek medical help.

Most likely is just hormones and will resolve on its own. If pain, redness, or an increase in swelling is involved keep an eye on things and if it gets worse go back to the doctors. Breast cancer does happen in men but not until they are in their late 60's an up. This is not a precursor to that.

Yes, my daughter is 2 and whe she was a few weeks old' I was scared to death one day she woke up with what could only be described as mini breasts implants under both breast and hard. I freaked out and called dr was waiting for dr. I called my husband who is a Doctor he said it was normal and hormonal and would go away. I't did. I'm hoping this is what your son has.
good luck

It could be normal hormones, but why take the chance.
Make an appointment with your local doctor, explaining your concerns, as soon as possible.
Ensure you go with him, to give help and support.
Chances are it is nothing serious, but best be sure.
May I wish you all the best, and hope everything turns out OK.

All you can do is just keep an eye on it and consult the Doctor again if it increases in size. It's not an unusual problem. Have a look again in about a week's time. Whatever you do, don't put fear into your son and upset him and don't keep messing with it.

I had that at his age, i saw a specialist who told me not to worry, its a puberty thing. he was right and all was well after about 6 months. there is always a small possibility its something nasty, but dont get too worried about it just yet. keep an eye out for other symptons before you fear the worst.

I've heard it's normal - hormones, glands and whatnot, but I would still take him to the doctor.

My nephew had the same,it went away after a few weeks. Unless painful or it keeps growing, I wouldn't worry about it.
