The condo above me resurfaced their floor with pergo. I hear cracks and pops coming from the ceiling. Not foot steps, but cracks and pops, sometimes loud enough to wake me up. Not all the time, but enough to be annoying.

What is it? What should I do?

Go up and tell them that you hear this noise, and ask if they hear it too. Tell them it may be their new floor, and if so, then there's nothing you can do about it. At least they'll be aware if it's a problem with their new flooring. It doesn't seem that their intention is to be annoying or rudely loud.

sounds like the pergo is settling in. the pops should decline with time. that's the joys of condo life. one man's ceiling is another man's floor.

I'd try to ignore it for a week or so. It is loudest when first installed. When the fake wood seats to itself and the plastic liner it should shut the hell up.
