Conservative Rabbis have recently leaned in that direction.
If Christians apply the juxtaposition of the experience of contemporary times upon a reading of Scripture, doesn't Homosexuality prohibition seem to be outmoded, much like Leviticus' admonishment against tattoos, men shaving their beards or wearing garments of two different threads.
As a Christian do you view the Bible as a purveyor of "the living word".
Our constitution is a "living document" and yet attempt is made to change it by Christians. Why not scripture if you believe that scripture, as written, is against Homosexuality?

Islam specifically forbids it. Islam specifically forbids changing, adding or deleting anything in the Quran. Islam specifically tells all believers they have to follow the word of Allah and the message of the prophets. Homosexuality is specifically mentioned as wrong in the Quran.

Catholics have to follow the edicts of the Pope and Church. The Pope and Church have stated that there is nothing wrong with Celebate Homosexuals and they can be full members of the Church and even be priests.

Protestants are divided on the issue. What the Bible has NO specific view on homoseuxality like the Quran, in General, does, the Bible specifically has a view on the practise of homosexuality between two people, just as it does the practise of sexuality between heterosexuals who are no married.

The Bible generally states the marriage is between a man and a woman. The Bible gives no other allowances or guidelines.

Some Protestant religions are opposed to homosexuality based on extreme interpretations.

Some Proestant religions have embraced it or have attempted to embrace it and even marry homosexuals.

Some Protestant religions allow active, practising homosexuals to become priests and even Bishops.

The basic view on all Christian sides is God will sort it out in the end and if God chooses to discipline those for their specific views, pro or con, on homosexuality so be it.

Islam will not accept it in any circumstance and calls for the active coversion, which includes ending the homosexual practises or the elimination of those who are infidels or otherwise vile.

So you have 1.5 billion who will not every change their view.

You have 2.1 billion influx of which 1.1 billion have made a formal stand (Catholics) that celebates are ok.

The rest are vastly undecided, but by and large at least 50% will be sofenting their view.

If you took a vote today in which people had to PUT THEIR NAMES on the ballot and say I, my name, Consider Homosexuality to be OK, NOT OK, the NOT OK would probably prevail in the world. This would be an advisory vote, that does not add or take away rights. It simply asks if it's OK.

Most people in the world would NOT probably approve inter racial marriages if asked to vote in the same way.

The big problem is, you see, the unmarried fornicators will want their issue handled next. They will demand that sex outside of marriage should not be viewed as sinful.

That will be the next issue.

I'm not a Christian, but I have often wondered why certain things are discarded as old law from the Old Testament, yet they keep the laws against homosexuality from there. Because in the New Test. They say that everything has been summed up into Love- and grace. And they dont need to follow the old laws. So what does the N.T say regarding homosexuality? Or are they going to just pick and choose what is right and wrong from the OT?

I don`t see how the act of Homosexuality can ever be accepted by mainstream Christianity because of the belief that God created Humankind and made them Male and Female so that they could procreate the species.
If the churches disregard this then they would be heretical and this is the dilemma.

I forgot to add that those Rabbi`s who live by the Babylonian Talmud do support Homosexuality as it is allowed in this corrupt teaching.

It is more than a levitcal law. It is important to look at the principles behind those. For instance, was it a civil law, a law that represented something to do with the Messiah, or a law that tried to prevent sexual immorality. Plus it is also described in the new testament as a type of sin that if knowingly continued would keep someone out of heaven. So it is not influenced by culture as some might claim.

With all the 'outmoded' prohibitions in the Bible, I think homosexuality is pretty far down the list on gaining acceptance. Many churches look for opportunities to separate themselves morally from the world, and this is one way that offends few church members.

Historicaly conversing; Muslims and Jews can answer for themselves presentlyon this one. related to Christianitry; are you asking bearing directly to the 'praticed' Christianity or the scriptural Christianity? (there's a huge distinction between the two presently; some attempt; some pass the tests, some do not pass the tests (plural)).

Being a homosexual is like being a murderer, a liar, a thief, a sinner. Just like I am, a sinner.

They're all just sins.

Tattooing your body is a sin.

I am a sinner, and so is everyone else in the world. When a person is saved, they turn from thier sins and accept a lifestyle from God.

The only difference between being gay and telling a lie is that homosexuality is a lifestyle, and if you are living in a sinful lifestyle, "walking in sin", you can't be saved.

Gays should be allowed to GO to church, just like liars, and murderers, and thieves. God loves them. Not thier sin.

Homosexuality should not be accepted in the Church as a lifestyle.

The fundamentalist christians will have to find a replacement group to hate first. That feeling of superiority over some other group is the only thing that gives them any sense of cohesion. It's also a good recruiting tool.

It's an ages old method of gathering a following: identify a traditionally helpless minority, demonize them, blame them for everyone's woes. Tell the people that no matter what sort of failure you may be, "at least you're not one of THOSE!".

Worked for Hitler, works for christianity. Really. It's a strategy that never fails. Build up your folowing by tearing down someone else. Make them feel good about themselves!

The Constitution of the US may be considered a "living document" in that it was authored and composed by humans, and as such, is subject to change.

The Bible does NOT change. In it we have the expressed wishes of God, who lives outside of man's timetable. His wishes are His wishes: they don't change like a child's Christmas present list! What HE has revealed is solid, in one case literally written in stone, and unchanging, just as HE is unchangeing.

To foster a change in the commandments of God, you would have to change God into a different person! That is not going to happen.

Well that is the good thing about being a Christian. You can pick and chose which chapters and verses of Leviticus to follow. Though I have been thinking about sending my wife away for a week each month during her "issues with blood" as she is kinda bltchy then anyways.

Edit: Stone Rolled God says that eating shell fish is also an abomination but I have been to many Christmas parties that have shrimp cocktails.
