I have the same problem too and it still recurs occasionally. I take a capsule called melatonin and it has helped more than anything else.
It is typically available in 3, 7, and 10 mg doses and is a OTC REM sleep regulating hormone.
It has worked for me without the next morning grog some of the other sleep preparations have a a residual side effect.
Also, elimination of decaffeinated beverages, particularly those consumed after 4 pm will help as well.

Meditation is a big help...I have had problems for years and find that between supplements and meditation is the only thing that works best..Occasionally I will take an Ambien but drugs are never the answer....Exercise or Yoga help too! Hope you can use the info

Y hasnt meditation worked 4 u, R u doing it right? maybe your not making urself calm enough when u were trying it, maybe u were trying too hard, which then is useless cause it dont work that way...u have to meditate every night

I have the same problem. I take 2 muscle relaxers, 2 tylonal pm's, 1 prescription medication. and a hot relaxing bath. and i finally pass out. nothing els works for me either.

try thinking about nothing and just laying still. don't even move for an itch. if that doesn't help then try reading and just let your self fall into the book. eventually you ll think your reading when your really asleep.
