It could be many things, a flea allergy, nervous fur pulling, ringworm - so please, take her to the vet.
Cats hide disease very well so when it gets to the point you can tell something isn't right you should see a vet ASAP.

It can be allergies just like everyone else said or it can be a fungal infection. Even stress can be the issue. It is definitely worth taking your cat to the vet. Make sure your Vet does a blood test on your Cat.

I agree. My cat had this problem. He was scratching all the time and huge clumps of hair were coming off of him. We took him to the vet and they checked him for fleas and allergies and stress issues.
They ended up putting him on prednisone (an anti-allergenic for cats), until we figured out that he was allergic to chicken. The unfortunate thing is that most cat food has chicken or chicken byproduct in it, so we have him on a soy-based cat food now which is expensive but better than prednisone, which is known to cause diabetes in cats.

Sounds like a bad case of ring-worm. My kitten had this problem to. If it is, than unfortunately you will so be getting these scabs too. Go to the vet. Anyone in your house-hold will soon have these ring-worms as-well. Takes weeks to get rid of the little bastards.

Well, if you live in the south, it could be a flea problem, but it sounds like your' cat could possibly have feline leukemia. Gether to a vet as soon as possible! That's the best thing you can do.

It could either be allergies or stress. This seems a bit serious, and I think that it'd be best if you went to a vet. Good luck.
