I would rather not take tablets (pills) to sleep. Would exercise before bedtime , read a book. I myself, exercise, take a warm shower, settle in bed with a good book, one that does not excite me but makes me curious as I read it. Quiet time for me helps tension.

First consult your G.P. and try to do some "sleep hygiene".
That means that you plan your day meticulously and set little goals of what you have to doevery day.
Make sure the aims are not difficult to achieve!
You will realize, that even with small steps you 'll acomplish things.
Once you have ticked of all tasks for a day you deserve to rest, so that you can continue the next day.
To get used to going to sleep at a fixed time, e.g. 23.00 hours. You can ask your G.P. for some sleeping pills. Stilnox, is quite good to get started.
Don't take them for more than 10 days and only if you feel to tense to fall asleep on your own. Sometimes just knowing that you could take them calms you down enough.
The most important thing is to have a structure in your life. Always get up and go to sleep on the same schedule, than your inner clock will readjust itself and you will become more efficient again in your daily life.

This is the problem with America. Every time there is something wrong there is a pill to take for it. You dont NEED a pill. What you do need is to change your way of thinking. The govt for decades now has catered to the pharmaceautical companies because of all the money they dump into elections and that is just wrong. It's all about the money NOT our health. You already said you have tensions therefore you just need to relax !!!

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.

See your doctor...there are some sleep medicines that are non-addictive and non-habit forming. Trust me, you do NOT want to have to rely on them. It will actually make your tension worse and your sleep patterns will not be the same. Tylenol Simply Sleep is made for just that....I don't believe it's habit forming, but it also doesn't contain added medicine that you don't need (such as in Benadryl). Good luck!

Try some Benedryl. It's the ingredient in Tylenol PM that makes you sleepy. Only take 25-50 milligrams. If you take more than that, it can have the opposite effect on you and make you anxious and too wired to sleep.
