It's called envy. Obviously you are very attractive and I would take it as a compliment that women give you stares, because you look better than they do. It happens to me all the time and I use to feel very badly about it, as well as very uncomfortable. After reading up on envious behaviors of women toward other women, I learned to accept it and move on. Just smile and go about your way.

They were staring at you because you were interesting. Not out of rudeness. I lived in the Middle East and I experienced the same thing. My husband explained that these girls were from a small village and I was a new experience. They would stare and I would just smile back they would smile back nervously. They don't understand the Western world ettiquette. I know it can be unnerving but it really is just curiosity and they aren't judging you.

If someone staring at you makes you feel stupid or insignificant, you really have some issues with yourself. You should explore those issues and try to resolve them. Then you will be able to face the world with more confidence.

Don't take it personally. They may have been checking out your colleague. Or remarking on your smoking. Don't worry about it. Live your life the way you want to and forget everyone else. There are more important things to worry about in the world then a few lookers.

Smoking is probably the issue.
My daughter will go out of her way to tell me who smoking and wear they are located, while holding her nose, grasping at my hand, and pointing at the smoker.
Smoking is not only a health risk for you and others who inhale your smoke as second-hand smoke, but also a terribly poor example to the younger generations.
Smoking is no longer accepted as OK. You smoke, you draw unwanted attention to yourself.

If someone staring makes you feel those things then maybe you have low self esteem. People who stare have their own problems remember that it doesn't matter what others think . You are the only person you have to answer to.

Why are they staring at you? Are they offended by your cigarette maybe? Why does it have to be negative? Maybe they like your clothes or maybe you have an unusual look about you that they may wish for. Don't take things so negative.

Because smoking cigarettes is a freakishly weird habit that always draws the wrong kind of intention!
