We bought our 4yr old a vsmile and 3 games. She is also getting an activity center, with washable fingerpaints, crayons, and a dry erase board, as well as all those magnetic alphabet letters.I want to encourage her artistic side, as she loves to draw triangles, squares and so on already. I also made it a point to but a LARGE sheet of plastic to go underneath in case of spills, as well as a painting smock. We got our baby a baby vsmile and a barnyard animal playmat. and clothes, clothes, clothes!!!!!!!!!

We have the 'trinity' rule in our house. I implemented it when they were little because already they had too much crap, and Christmas was just around the corner. I figured, "Jesus only got 3 gifts, why are my kids better than that?" They get 3 gifts a piece. This has always been the rule. Keeps them from getting greedy. I also NEVER EVER had let them make a list, if I don't know what they want, then I'm not doing my job as a parent and getting close or knowing them personally. Forbidding Christmas wish lists also curbs greed. Christmas is not a BLANK CHECK. Christmas is about Jesus, the birth of our Saviour. It is a religious celebration for our family.
They also get the same 3 'kinds' of gifts each year...so no one expects a boat load of toys. Expectations are what really destroy any meaningful day. They always get 1 toy, 1 book, 1 box of clothing.
Granted the toy *might* be a Wii or a Nintendo ds. I'm not cheap, I'm principled!

I got my three year old son a train set, a doctor dress up set, a V-smile, and a sit-and-spin. I am kind of kicking myself for getting the V-smile b/c now I'll have to buy games for it but it's supposed to be a good educational toy. So far I got my 14 month old some bath toys and a little tool bench. It is kind of hard to think of things b/c he's so little and there is already a ton of stuff here from big brother.

our son (1 1/2) is quite spoilt ( i hate to admit it tho) he doesnt need anything..he has unopened toys because there is no room inthe house for them, clothes and shoes that have yet to be worn so it was hard to think of anything to get him. but,.....we have bought him a puppy (obviously we take care of it but when he is old enough i think it would be a good responsibilty for him. we also got one of those plastic jungle gym things with the tunnels and slides, a few disney dvds and some beach towels.
