Every Christmas, I have to suffer through people calling it a poin-set-a. It is pronounced poin-set-ee-a. It grates my ears when people don't pronounce it right. Hello? There's an "I" in there! It doesn't magically become silent just because you're too damn lazy to pronounce it!
Merry Christmas!

And to the very ignorant u_save and her smart-*** response:
1. The first definition in the dictionary is the more appropriate one, and
2. The dictionaries of the world often add additional pronunciations, usually after a word is mispronounced for so long that it becomes acceptable. Case in point: the word often. The "t" was always silent. But enough nimrods mispronounced it that it became acceptable. That doesn't make us intelligent folks wrong, it makes idiots like you lazy.
