This past Wednesday I woke up with a head AND chest cold. I've been taking NyQuil every night and it seems to be helping a bit. But, there's just a couple of issues I have left. I seem to be coughing quite a bit...but not the kind of cough that hurts the throat...I'm coughing UP things...particularly a horrible tasting greenish colored mucus. I cough this stuff up to the point that I almost throw up because it makes me gag. Then, the other issue, is that if I hold in the cough my eyes itch and begin to water. Is this normal, and are there any suggestions out there for something that could make me feel better?

While you are sleeping, your sinus are draining down your throat which is why you are coughing up the greenish stuff in the morning. You could have a sinus infection. If your upper teeth hurt and if your head throbs when you put your head down it's possible. Your tear ducts are connected to your sinus (which is why your nose runs when you cry) so holding a cough can make your eyes water and itch. If the cough (and green mucus) is not gone by this Wednesday, you should see a Doctor and get antibiotics for a sinus infection.

There are a couple things that could be going on with you. You could have a cold which you already assume you have or you could have an upper respiratory infection. The only way to really tell for sure is to go see your Dr. If it is more then just a cold then you really need antibiotics to clear things up. In the mean time go by the old stand by of chicken soup! I sure hope you get to feeling better! You can also mix together 2 teaspoons of honey and 1 teaspoon of Apple Cider Vinigar and mix it with a glass of water. That is what my mom used on us kids when we were growing up and we still use it today. God bless and hope you feel better!

Your eyes sound like Hay Fever/allergies.

But in regards to what you are coughing up, you could have a sinus infection or an URI my dear! Get to the doctor for some antibiotics ASAP! That's the only thing that will clear it up!

Anytime that your mucous is anything but clearish to a barely there off-white tint it is a sinus infection. It should not be green.

I had the targeted identical challenge with my son. A blocked tear duct in each or one eye could be very ordinary at beginning. The youngster's eyes drain transparent fluid out of the corners in their eyes. This is as a result of the drainage into the nostril being partly blocked. Most of those tear ducts open via themselves earlier than year of age!! My son used to be well via a bout four months. All you must do is get a few saline (saltwater) wash from a chemist and dunk a few cotton wool into it. Gently transfer it over your youngster's closed eye. This won't most effective wipe away the gunk however it's going to additionally seep into the attention and provide it a well rinse. Take your baby to the medical professionals if its nonetheless taking place via year of age or in case your childs eyes emerge as crimson or swollen. I dont believe there may be some thing so that you can be alarmed approximately and I definately believe it might wait until your childs subsequent investigate up .. But mum's recognise great and in case your concerened take her to a general practitioner
