Trying to determine what game to buy for my grandkids.
Ages: 10 yr. old Twin boys, plus two girls, ages 5 & 3. All same family. They are home schooled and although they have a TV, it is only for tapes and DVD's. They do not have cable. So they do not see commercials advertising games and such.
Also, parents do not want video game systems. I know this sounds weird in today's world, but they are fine with it.
They are allowed to watch TV and play video at friends homes and when they visit us.
When we are together, we play bingo as a family.
I am looking for something newer than Candyland, Sorry, Hi Ho Cherry O.
Any Suggestions ??

Wow, our family is VERY similar to your grandkid's. Homeschooled, no cable, no videogames. I'm guessing they have very smart, non-materialistic, well behaved children.
We've watched a lot of Disney movies and have played the Disney DVD Scene It game. The kids really liked that one because they were better at it then us grown-ups.
Another one my 6 and 12 yr olds like is Spoons (we just bought Giant Spoons). My 4 and 6 yr olds like Cranium Cariboo. We also like Cranium Conga as a family.
If they play computer games, Jump Start or VeggieTales games are great too.
I just got an email about a new game designed for homeschoolers. The following is pasted from the email....

Hello Gran Parent.

I am facing the same issues. I love my Gan children very much...all 5 of them.

Suggestions: For the Boys.... Monopoly...a great board game. Perhaps, Tickets to a sports event. A chemistry set. Also, a One time use Camera...you pre-pay the developing.

The 5 year old girl: Something Pretty...Snow white, Barbie...either a Doll or the clothing...My gran daughter loves to dress up in Clothes like Snow White.

The 3 year old: A special Blanket, a stuffed animal, perhaps. A toy that makes Music.

We all know that Christmas has its excesses, to be sure.

But, children are children...as Gran Parents we can spoil them.

First, we are blessed with our own children and then we are Really Blessed with the Gran children.

Enjoy the Holidays and God Bless our Gran Children.
