LOL!
what a lovely picture you paint here
I f your dog is growing well , has no skin problems then the cat food will do her no harm.
Dogs have sturdier digestions than cats .
you could occasionally, replace the cat food
with a good quality dog food ----
the cats will probably enjoy that too , for a change
.
So, no huge worries
have a Happy Christmas !

Dogs will like catfood cause it reeks more than dog food. true! I've had dogs and cats and the dogs refuse to touch their food when there's cat food to be had. Problem is that cat food is balanced for cats, not dogs. I'm not sure if I remember correctly but I think catfood might have too much protein and not enough carbs for dogs. I wouldn't have any idea about other mineral and vitamin and fat differences they would require. One way around this is to feed them in meals, or otherwise to mix in a little canned dog food with your dogs kibble to make it more appetising to her. Mix it well though otherwise if she's the picky type, she'll just lick all the wet food off the kibble and spit the kibble out (I've had dogs who do that too!).

YOUR DOG CANNOT LIVE ON CAT FOOD!
Cat food does not have the nutrients that a dog needs to be healthy.
Try Wellness, Natural Balance, Canidae, Innova. Those are all high quality foods that have the essential ingredients your dog needs. Remember that your dog is a carnivore and meat needs to be the first few ingredients (not corn as most dog foods have). No Dog Chow or Pedigree, no Kibbles-n-Bits, Beneful, Iams, or any other foods you can find on your local supermarket or Target/Wal-mart shelf. Stay away from foods that contain corn, wheat, soy (fillers) and by-products.
You won't see the effects of a poor diet for years to come, but when your dog is a senior facing health issues that come with old age do you really want to compound that by adding kidney problems and everything else that can come from lack of essential nutrients it's entire life?

If she won't eat the dog food then maybe you need to get some supplements form the vet. Cat food and dog food are made up differently. My mom had a cat at one time that done the opposite and the dog food just made her fat. She didn't get the nutrients she needed. She experimented and finally found one that the cat would eat. Good Luck.

Dog's should not be allowed to eat cat food. Cats are cats, and dogs are dogs. If it was okay for them to eat the same food then we would only have one type of food for them both to eat. Both animals require different nutrition and different enzymes. The digestive enzymes in cat food are harmfull to a dog's digestive system and the food does not provide the nutrients that they need.
Firstly if your dog doesn't eat it's food then you should switch foods, you should chose a high quality dog food, not the cheapest. The more expensive foods are more expensive, but people should take that into consideration when they get a pet. Ol' Roy has the nutritional value of cardboard. When you use a high quality food you actually feed less because it has more of what they need, it not only lasts longer per bag but alway creates less waste.
For the people who think it's okay, I'm sorry and I hope that you enjoy your pets while you have them, and hope that you reconsider the way you're slowly killing your pet with "kindness" they are like children who would rather eat cake and candies than veggies, as owners we are responsible for their lives, we take that responsibility when we ask them to come and live in our homes.

Don't let your dog eat cat food. If it accidentally eats some, that's fine. Cat food doesn't have the nutritional ingredients that are crucial for a dog's health, coat, and general well-being. Experiment with different dog foods. You can give her a brand that has small pieces that looks more like cat food. Keep the cat food up high or in an area that she can't get into. What breed is she? I take it she's a toy breed. Toy breeds do tend to act like cats. Only allow her dog food (preferably hard), even if she refuses to touch it. She won't starve herself. Iams sells a gravy that you can put on the food if she's super finicky like my puppy. Good luck. And remember, it's perfectly normal for a dog to clean itself, stretch, and want to sleep up high like a cat!

We also have 2 cats, and 1 dog. I believe that your dog likes cat food because it is tastier, and higher in protein. Perhaps it would be a good idea to mix some of the cat food with dog food, and gradually weaning your dog this way. Also, do not make the cat food available to your dog.

Your dog will have a short life span then it would if fed on good dog food.
Dogs and Cats are different as you may have noticed, cat food is high in protein which the dog can not process over time it will have defects with it's Kidney and liver and it will be your fault. My dog would happily live on raw eggs but she can't with all that protein she'd end up with a disorder which will casue her to lose weight at such a rate she would be a walking skeloton. You are not doing your dog any favours in fact you should be ashamed. Maybe nice to blab to folks that OH MY DOG EATS CAT FOOD IS'NT IT CUTE HOW SHE STRECHES AND CURLS UP. Behind your back there thinking what you have just been told. Now please stop killing your dog.

Cat food is not nutritionally balanced for dogs. Over time, a dog who eats cat food will need supplements to remain healthy (cat food has a higher protein content). Keep your dog and cats away from each other at feeding time. Give them food that's made for each, and you'll have happy healthy pets.

my dog is the same way, but I won't LET her eat the cat food. The cat food is up high where she can't reach it & has been since day one (she's 8 mo's old now). There's probably a reason why they are different. If you want a heathy dog you should keep the cat food out of it's reach.
