It is 4 days to the delivery due date, and my dog has no milk in her breast yet. Is this normal?

Sometimes mothers will show no increase in mammery size until puppies are born , in others the glands may be full and even produce colostrum days before birth. It is all about each females hormone levels . Don't worry about it till after the puppies are born. If after the puppies are born you still can't express any milk and the puppies try to nurse but start crying like they aren't getting anything. Take her to the vet they will just give her a calcium shot to up her milk production . I had this happen with a Ridgeback female of mine. After the shot she was able to produce more milk. IF it not that than your vet will be able to help you more. Just don't worry till the pups are here.

Her milk will come in after the pups start nursing. Right now she should have small amount of what is called colostrum or fore-milk that is essential for the pups to drink as it passes antibodies along to prevent the pups from getting sick.

The mother's real milk will take a day or two to come in and then it will be obvious that she's lactating. If she still doens't seem to have milk and the pups are not active after a couple days, call your vet.

She's either pregnant or going through a false pregnancy. Dogs don't leak milk because they're in heat. If it's a false pregnancy, it's as hard on her body as a real one. You can prevent this and more serious problems like cancer and pyometra, by getting her spayed. And you need to keep an eye on her - she could get mastitis.

sometimes it takes the actual birth to trigger that homone (just like in humans) to start producing milk, and just because she is due in 4 days, doesnt mean thats when the pups will come, so just be patient. if she hasnt started producing milk within 2 days of giving birth, get them all to the vet so they can make sure she is ok, and get some formula for the pups (you might end up having to hand feed - its tough, but it would be ok)

Some dogs when they go in to labor they will start leaking milk. it will be stimulated when the pups are born. i would only worry about it if she still dosent have any once they are born.
