I have two chihuahuas and I adore them!! They are the best dog I have ever had. They are not as needy as people make them sound. They are the sweetest dogs. My husband is even in love with them and he is not a real dog person! We also have two small children and the dogs are great with them. Everywhere I read said not to have chihuahuas with chilren and they all love each other! It's all in how they are raised so don't believe everything that you hear.

It would be if you were just trying to be cool. I noticed your name is "Hollywood Hottie" so I didn't know. They aren't the accessory they used to be (which they should have never been). Even Paris leaves Tinkerbell at home now. If you want a Chihuahua because you want a good companion and don't have the room for a larger dog and can dedicate alot of time to it, go for it. I just want to warn you that they are very "clingy" and need to almost constantly be held. They are also very "yappy" which can make some people nervous. They are also frequently "shaky" which makes people like me very nervous. They must be indoor dogs and you have to put sweaters on them if you live in a cold climate. They prefer to be the only pet and be the center of attention. They are smart little buggers, I'll give them that. You'd only be being stupid if you bought one on a whim without giving it any thought or buying one because you think they're cool. I also don't think Chihuahuas are very "manly" unless you're gay which is fine. Remember, only get any dog if you are prepared to be its lifelong caretaker and loving companion and have the finances and time to be the best owner possible.

A chihuahua mix is better than a full blooded. I have a long-haired chihuahua/fiest mix and she is a great companion and very protective (not that she bites anyone who comes near me but she is always on the lookout around the house). They are good if your space is limited and she and my beagle are very good friends. They even share the same food/water bowls.
A full blooded chihuahua tends to be very small (only about 5 or 6 pounds) which can lead to health problems. The slightest cold or sniffle could mean big vet bills.

If you can properly take care of it, I don't see any reason why you shoud'nt buy a Chihuahua. I have a male and a female who had #3 puppies. We were going to sell them, but decided to keep all of them. They are just too hard to give up. Chihuahuas are very loyal, loving, protective of their owner, smart, love to cuddle, fun, very playful, very low maintenance, easy to care for, great little watch dogs, and you can take them just about anywhere you go. Hope this helps a little! Good Luck and Have Fun!

I think it would be stupid to buy ANY dog. 3 to 5 MILLION pets a year a killed because there aren't enough homes. There are around 10,000 humans born a day and around 70,000 pets. Do the math. Rescue a dog if you really want to commit to a lifetime friend.

I own a chihuahua and I love him to death. It is a very needy breed of dog. They always have to be near their master. Mine has to sleep with me and follows me wherever I go. They get cold very easy and like to sleep under the blankets also. Also very affectionate and stuborn and will try and rule your house. But I wouldn't trade mine for anything.

If you want one AND will look after it, seems fine to me.
*Update* - needhelp, I nearly made a comment along those lines (so long as it fits nicely in the oven) - and then changed my mind. I think it a little worrying that two people out of two (100% lol) associate a chihuahua as a possible food option :)

I like chihuahua mixes better than a full bred. They are a bit bigger and a little less fragile.
But lots have them and love them to pieces, so if thats what you want then go for it. Just think, the poo messes will be little.

I loved everyone I had but I would not buy one. They come from horrible places that breed them.
And there are plenty in rescue and a rescue will help you get all the facts about the proper care.

They make Great pets! I have one named Jasmin and she is so sweet. I think they make better pets for single people . I have kids and she's a little timid when my 3 year old is playing with her. Some little dogs don't do well with kids.
