Selection of models and features will be slim by January, do it now, unless you way a 2007 model, instead of a discounted 2006.

If you are in the UK (and I'm sure the same will apply in America) usually just before the new model comes out or the registration plate changes. If you are OK with not having the current and most up-to-date version of a car you should get a good deal. For example, if the shape changes, you will get the old shape cheaper. Another way to get a good deal is to buy an ex-demonstrator.

Some interesting informatin a Car Dealer told me many years ago concerning buying a new car. Learn to read the VIN code that comes with a car. And, do not buy a "Friday" or "Monday" car. And now you will ask why; the answer will astound you. Studies have shown that "Friday" and "Monday" break down significantly more than other cars. So what is a "Friday" car and a "Monday" car? They were made on those days. Explanation - People on Friday are coming to work with their attention focused on the upcoming weekend. Their attention span is short. People on Monday are coming to work with their attention focused on either good or bad points of their weekend. They're not focused on the job.

2006 models at a better price than the ones coming in will be slim pickings in mid winter. So buy now. Take a loan and pay it off in Feb or March when you get your money back from the tax man. The savings are worth it.
Car loans are open loans anyway. You can pay them off anytime.
