you should bring it up to him in a discussion but do not be too pushy or angry/frustrated. Start off by saying some real positive things, like we've been together for a long time and I feel I love you more and more everyday. I can see myself growing old with you.
Like ease into it, and try not to become angry if you don't get the response your looking for.
If anything find out what is holding him back, because it can be something that you can work out, together.

You mean marriage? It's a tricky affair, you may want to gather intelligence about this. Remember that guys will not keep secrets from each other in general, so you may want to have a girl do this for you. Get a trusty gal whom you know well, then all of you go out to the bar and get drunk, and while you're off getting drinks or in the bathroom get her to ask your guys "so, you guys have been together for a while now?! You ever think of settling down with her for the long haul?" Then she can report to you later on about this, not that same night, it's too suspicious. Just remember to give them time alone together as much as possible and several times that night. Make sure your girl knows how to soften him up a bit since he may not want to spill the beans easily, hence the alcohol.

If you want to settle down, you most certainly should. You need to know at this point, if a permanent future is in the cards or not. Otherwise, you are just wasting your time. You could start the conversation by asking him, "Where do you see us in three years? Do you see us the same way or will we be married?" His answer will tell you all you need to know. But do not allow him to lead you on by telling you, "I don't know. Ask me again in a year." If he doesn't know now, he's probably not going to know in a year either and he's just looking for a way to maintain the status quo.

Tell him you are taking off for greener pastures and then do it.
If he wants you back then marry him,if he does not--find someone else.
But bring this to a halt:it is neither fish nor fowl.Do not ask him to do anything, just leave.
Go off and think about things. It will work itself out for better or worse.
Find someone else if he cannot keep up.

Well, look at your life situation. Are you ready to settle down? Is it realistic right now?

Well if you don't have a ring in your finger yet.. YOU better start nudging at him or tell him you'll walk... Tell him he's not getting free milk..he has to marry the cow first. (Note: In lame terms ; not to be found offensive.
