After regrettably having my long hair cut shorter i am thinking of having temporary extensions put in for a christmas party(the ones which last a week approx), i'm worried about whether this will ruin my hair. has anyone else had this done, and were you happy with the result?

I do hair extensions, and I think their great, there is a possibility that they can ruin your hair if they are not put in properly, and if you are gonna spend the money you might as well keep them in as long as you can. I do the sew in and the kind using an adhesive, depending on how long your hair is now will determine what kind you should get, the adhesive kind you can brush right over and there is no noticeable ledge, but they have a huge possibility of lifting. The sew in ones are maintenance free and you can keep them in for about two months, but you can't brush over them and you have to be more care full in hiding them.

You can just get the clip in ones which you can put in and take out a few hours later. Limber up those arms though as getting them right takes a bit of practice. It's best if you rope in a friend to help, otherwise it's difficult to know what they look like from the back. The good thing about these is that they are cheaper than the regular extensions, and they don't ruin your hair. You'll probably find that you can get them from most hair extension places - if not, your local hairdresser should be able to point you in the direction of their supplier. Give this a try!

It depends on the TYPE of extensions you want, how long you plan to keep them in and, most importantly, who will be putting them in! If you're after a "fun" look then synthetic extensions (which come in a variety of colours) will do well in the short term and are cheaper than human hair, which is more expensive but lasts longer.

Its best to really do some research with local hair dressers.
It is not something any hair stylist can do.
Do not over spend, or worry about where the hair is from.
If you like it or if as long as it is Human hair, you are OK.
But make sure you do research on the hair dresser and extensions.
I have many hair extensions and the best is definitely to sow it in your natural corn rolls. Do not complete drench the hair scalp in soap and water or hair care products.

Need anymore help let me know.
Take Care.

do not use the ones where they glue them in to your have as if you go to a hairdressers they do not check the elasticty in your hair and if your hair is strained to much it will cause the hair to drop out an leave bald patches. i have seen this before as i am a hairdresser.
your best bet is to use the clip on one or just look at your hair an love it the way it is it will soon grow

Hi,

I had these put in a few times, they look very nice but after having them in for a while they did start to break my hair off. If you only have them put in once, you should be fine.

What's the point? It's hair and I'm sure you can do something decent with it at the length it is. Why waste money? Save it for a new dress or something :]

that you sow on the fake hair and just clip them to your hair
