My sister recently hooked up with some guy, but I don't like him for her. I want my sister to have the best and right now the guy she's dating barely makes 27K a year. That's pathetic, I need to know how to convince her that if she stays with him, they'll be living in poverty?

If you respect your sister, then also respect her choices in men. It's not the money the men bring in, but the amount of love.
If you don't respect her choices, you'll eventually chase her away.
If he is really bad for her (I don't mean money wise) then advise her, but don't force her into anything. She lives her own life. And some bad decisions need to be worked out by the person who made them. Give her the chance the find her own way...

While I understand your concern for your sister, I am a little bit upset by your definition of poverty. I raised theree children off of $25,000 per year for five years. My children were ALWAYS clean and neat, and they sometimes had more than children who's parents were making three times more than myself. Today, I make in the mid thirties, but two of my children are adults, and they have never felt deprived. For your sister, let her find her own way in life, the only thing you can do for her is to be there for support in case things don't work out in her poverty stricken relationship.

I know from experirence you can't tell her to dump him cuz she has feelings for him. I don't hear anything about him being abusive, or lying or cheating or being a junkie or a deadbeat. At least he is working and that doesn't mean to say he won't get a better job with more money. I f he is being real nasty and abusive to your sister, then That's when you should worry. Don't judge him cuz is not making a lot of dough to satisfy you. Trust me, there are a lot of men that have money that feel they can treat women like dogs and get away with it. And because people don't make alot of money don't make them pathetic, It's how they treat other people that can do that.

Whoa! Back the truck up! You don't like him cause he doesn't make enough money for you? What if you talk her into losing the love of her life? What if, in anywhere from a month to 6 years he ends up having millions? How will you feel then.....no different? I say mind your own busines. If your sister wants to love him, and he loves her and treats her good and they are happy together, who the h*ll are you to try to break them up? If he was abusing her or using her for money or something of that nature, that would be different. Are you sure there isn't some OTHER reason you want them top split?................hmmm?

I do understand that money is a factor in life and it is Not more of a factor than true love. If she really loves the man and they do the right thing with their money they will be fine. The main thing is to not spend more than you make! She really needs to be able to live her own life.

your sister wont listen to you becuase she feels she is old enough to make her own decisions. If you keep telling her not to date the guy she could just be like i am gonna date him because i ma not gonna be told what to do?

You can't....she needs to do it. From experience......just let it roll. She is going to have to learn from her mistakes. Isn't it her life? (I know....it's hard watching this go on...but what's going to stop her next time?)
