French Poodle Names

I love Standard Poodles. I almost got one because they make great obedience dogs but got Shelties instead which are also great Obedience dogs. I hope you keep it with its natural fur and don't give it one of those stupid poodle cuts. I would type in popular dog names on the internet and there are tons of sites. Here are some of the female names that I like that might be good for a standard poodle. Emma, Dakota, Sierra, Lady, Amber, Lexi, Lacy, Annie, Molly, Trixie, Kelly, and Tiffany. I think Poodles first became popular in France (although originated from Germany) so maybe a cute French name might be good. For example, Camille or Paris. Gemstones and flowers make good names like Pearl, Opal, or Rose. Personality can also help you name her. If she's spoiled, Diva or Princess are options. I also like the name Abby. The hard part is picking an AKC name to register her under if you're doing that. If you're not showing her I would just use the kennel name (where she was bred) and then her name. My Sheltie female is named Springbrook's Enchanting Emma (Emma for short). Whatever you decide, you picked a wonderful breed and I wish you a wonderful life with her. You may even end up getting a companion for her like we did for our Sheltie puppy (we now have 2 Sheltie puppies that are 5 and 7 months and the best of friends). By the way, have you seen the labradoodles or goldendoodles? They crossed Standard Poodles with Retrievers. I think they look like mutts and people are paying alot of money. Think about doing obedience or agility with her, it is alot of fun and a great way to bond. Start with puppy kindergarten. I think everyone should take this. You learn basic commands and it gets your puppy used to unfamiliar surroundings, other dogs and new people. You'll be surprised at how quickly she learns and how eager to please you she is and at how much fun you two can have! GOOD LUCK.

There are a few real keys to dog training, whether you are trying to train your dog to come when called, sit, stop barking or any other behavior. Understanding their importance is critical to achieving rapid results that are long lasting and help develop the bond between you and your dog. Read more here https://biturl.im/aU7VB

The first is simple; you must win your dogs mind. If you don't achieve this first then you will be struggling the all the way. When I talk about winning your dogs mind what I really mean is that your dog looks to you for all the decisions. Before you do anything else watch one of the amazing video sites that show you the 5 Golden rules to establishing yourself as the pack leader. If you aren't putting these in place then you are setting yourself up to fail. Just at the crucial point where you really want your dog to listen they will go and do their own thing. For sure your dog may play ball occasionally or even most of the time, you may even have a dog that is obedient 99% of the time, however if you want a dog who always listens to you and does as you ask then you need to win your dogs mind.

The second key to success is to motivate your dog. It is really important that you discover what it is that your dog enjoys both in terms of exercise and play but also in terms of a reward. If you can make the experience enjoyable then you will both achieve more and look forward to training.

Some dogs love to fetch, others love agility, and other dogs simply love obedience training, or swimming out into water and retrieve. At least to start with find out what your dogs love is and help them develop this, what I am saying is work with your dog. The other point to recognize is to make training enjoyable reward your dog.

We use to have a white poodle when I was little and her name was Lucy. She was so cute and just had a great, fun yet feminine personality!
I miss Lucy!

My mom named her's Tina. She got her as a Valentine's Day gift and named her Valen-Tina. My sister and I called her Tina Turner though, but Tina was a very fitting name for the little diva.
