I can see how it might be possible for a man to look down upon the earth and be an athiest, but I cannot conceive how he could look up into the heavens and say there is not God............Abreham Lincoln

Just take a very good look at the world. Now tell me that God not real.

16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Abraham Lincoln was a wise man indeed. It is difficult to fathom how some people can choose to not believe but it is everyone's perogative to believe or not believe as they wish. To me God is real as is every bit of the bible. To an Atheist, I am an ignorant sheeple. That's okay, I will gladly follow my shepherd anywhere he leads.

The God of the Hebrew scriptures -- a God of bloodshed and vengeance -- no way. Every fiber of my moral being cries out against such a "God." This "God" approved of or caused enough mayhem to sit at the table with Stalin, Hitler, and Pol Pot.

The God of Jesus -- maybe, with caveats due to the residual elements of bloodshed and vengeance (the whole lake of fire thing).

*looks up into "heavens"*
*sees lots of stars, galaxies, and other planets*
*doesn't see a god anywhere*

Lincoln was like the rest of us, and had an opinion. Just because he said something ignorant doesn't prove that God exists.

Yes, and if one looks into the heavens earnestly seeking him they will find him. The Bible says that God demonstrates his power in nature, as evidence that he is real.

No. The bible claims God created the earth and all life in more or less its current form six thousand years ago over a period of six days. I can say with absolute certainty that this did not happen.
