I'm guessing he adores you. Maybe "love" would be coming on too strong so he went to his trusty thesaurus and found "adores"--which can mean he worships from afar, or he feels you're unattainable or he really likes you but doesn't know if it's love or not.
Good luck--it's not a bad thing to be adored.
