Risperdal is good, give a low dose a try. If you have problems then try Seraquel, which I personally believe is the best for long term use. Either drug can make you groggy, tired and a little spacey but that will decrease over time. Remember something when you take these drugs - they are classified as anti-psychotics, are you at a point where you need this type of med?
As for restleness, I have not seen that with Risperdal, never with Seraquel. Definately avoid Valium and drugs like it, they are extremely addictive and debilitating. Food right after you take these meds should leave you ready to sleep 9 - 12 hours. Always reevaluate your medicine needs as time goes on.

I have never taken Haloperidol, but I do take Risperdal and it's been a miracle for me. It really does an excellent job stopping pychosis and racing thoughts! I do still have some obsessive thoughts and anxiety but I can think more rationally and talk myself out of it. I've had a great experience with it.

Start on a low dose if you can-- I started .25mg and am on 1mg/day now. A little tends to go a long way!

Risperdal is safer than haloperidol. Valium may help the restlessness but I am not sure and valium is very addictive with a high abuse potential. Talk to your doctor about it.
