I think it is perfectly acceptable to send only one card. My birthday is the day after Christmas, and I always stick with the one card. I think there is nothing worng with: "Thank you so much for the lovely gifts I received for both my birthday and for Christmas.... blah blah blah". Happy Birthday!

A card for every gift, since they were both for seperate reasons, it is only natural to give two cards. However, your xmas card can be generic, and your birthday card should be heart-felt.

I think one thank you card is enough as long as you make sure that you mention both presents.

you can thank him in one card just make your you put both events in it. thats what im gonna do to my best friend because her birthday is on dec. 24. anyways he will appreciate it. because a little thank you card will mean lots to him!!!!!!!!!
