Hepatect (by Biotest) is one of the HBIG brand that is given IV (my first baby received it and has tested negative for HB Ag). However, now in China it is not avaialble, and only IM dose(s) of HBIG are given. 200 IU or 100 iU at birth and then 100 IU at 30 days along with HB vaccine doses. My concern is about the efficacy of IM administered HBIG.

HBIG is given IM, and hepatitis B vaccine is also given simultaneously IM on the other side.

I'm a nurse. It's ok for them to administer the medication IM. You see the medication absorbs slower by giving it subq opposed to giving it IM abosrbs quicker in the body. This is fine.
