DO NOT TAKE THIS ANS. AS A POSSIBLE DIAGNOSES FOR YOUR PROBLEM!
I had similar pain with my spine and it turned out to be disc degeneration and possible sciatia being pinched.
The spine and it's nerves can cause all sorts of problems and some are similar to each other -wait for your results and stop worring-tense muscles cause pain to be worse so try to relax-NOW!
I do happen to be a massage therapist and know that relaxation at this point will help you a lot.

i hope the MRI Will reveal the cause of your back pain,

It is not possible to speculate here from your symptoms
what the cause is .

pain ,sometimes radiates to a different part of the body
( deferred pain)
eg; pain from gallstones --- are felt in the back of thorax
and chest area
Lower back pain, could result from ,a pinched nerve
higher up the spine

I hope you get a result soon ,

so you can be treated and cured in time for Christmas ;

also ask your doctor for some effective pain control

Good luck
have a Happy , (pain -free) Christmas

Asthma and cold sensitivity is what it turned out to be for me. So I keep exercising and it'll be alright.
