I'm irish and a smoker and I think it's the best thing that happened to the country. I don't mind stepping outside for a few minutes for a smoke. In fact, most of the craic is outside with the smokers because you end up talking to people you don't know.

Stopped me going out to pubs, just purchase at supermarket now and drink at home or with friends, should add that I/we don't smoke in the house, always go outside, but not standing in the middle of the street. Was in Middlesbourgh recently and enjoyed a smoke in the pubs, happy memories. Scottish for your info

My brother runs a bar in Dublin city centre, the smoking ban hasn't made an 'apporth of difference, it's still heaving from 5.30 'til midnight turned, only now he doesn't have to send the lads out to empty ashtrays

Makes no difference to me i never smoked in public places anyway out of respect for non smokers with me

You think its a good thing until its raining. Just remember they have ban smoking in america and now they are after anyone overweight...you open one door against a certain group of society then they go after another.
