Demons....myth or reality?

Why do so many people on this site believe in demons? The only demons on earth are in human form!

Are we to believe invisible entities influence us?

They can influence us, but we still have free choice (so we are not puppets as it was suggested I meant when answering a similar question).

Not all the thoughts in your head are your own. Ever had an idea pop into your head for no logical reason? Ever had an almost irristible urge to do something contrary to your nature? Ever had an inspiration pop into your head fully formed? Could be a demon or even an angel.

I speak as one who has experienced this and was exorcised & received the Holy Spirit (as the symptoms were the same as psychotic schizophrenia, this would not be possible if a) The Holy Spirit did not exist and b) the symptoms were not demonic but medical or psychological).

Demons are too VERY REAL. They are more so evil spirits rather than actual Demons.

They also are not always invisiable, but not everyone can see them (this includes good spirits too). Usually people with a physic ability (wether they know this or not)or the innocent as in young children see them. They can also be invisuable but they can leave marks or reminders tbehind that they were there.

Many people believe and many people do not. EACH TO THEIR OWN I SAY.

When I was 8 or 9 i woke in the middle of the night (wether i was dreaming or it really happened i will never know) but i saw a lady standing at the foot of my bed. She had a blue coloured dress on and a long neckless with beads on. All she said to me was, " Tell your mum its in our secret place".

In the morning i told my mum what i had dreamt and was the lady in my dream had said and my mum sort of went silent on me and then left our house (leaving me indoors with my dad). When she returned she asked me who i had really been talking too, and again i told her i had dreamt it. Cut along story short, my mum had gone back to her mums house (she had recently passed away and i hadnt gone to the funeral) and looked where ever it was that was her secret place and found a ring which her mum had said she had lost. Apperntly the lady i saw was wearing the same clothes that my mums mum had been burried in!!!!!!!!!! HOW FREAKY IS THAT. Ive not had any other experience like that since but that has remained with me all my life and im 28 now and ive never forgotten it.

So if good spirits are real then defo so too are bad ones

People here really do believe in demons. I think a few are talking about "brain circuitry and external influences leading to destructive thought and actions" type-thing as being a demon. That seems like just a metaphor to me, they don't mean actual beings. As for the religious type demons, there is no modern-day proof for or against. Sleep well!

It's all a matter of belief, really.

For my part, I have seen some very strange things in my life. I believe that there are things that exist in a non-physical state and if we give them a name and a personality, then they will conform to type. Why and how I don't know.

Demons as we expect to know them are often what the early Christians changed from Gods and Goddesses of old religions, i.e. Baal was a Hebrew God, Astaroth was the Babylonian Goddess Astarte (Queen of Heaven), and even their original idea of what Satan looks like with horns etc... was taken from the Greek Nature God Pan. This fitted their plan to convert the known world.

The Jewish system of Cabala (Nothing to do with the Madonna rubbish) uses communication with demons as a way of gaining higher spiritual knowledge, this was then taken by Occultists throughout the centuries like John Dee, Cornelius Agrippa, Eliphas Levi and Aleister Crowley to name a few to use to their own rather selfish and power-orientated ends. The writers like Dennis Wheatley turned it into entertaining stories and nowadays film makers use them in their horror films.

Because humanity hasn't evolved past believing in supernatural, or external forces, to explain the evil inherent in our own kind.

I might believe in Entities larger than our minds can comprehend. I know for a FACT that if it is nasty, and one human can do it to another human, it is being done -- for profit. Evil is a HUMAN problem.

I used to do door-to-door fundraising for the Rape Crisis Centre,where I lived when I was 24. The number of people who said things like 'Christians don't get raped', is STUNNING. It is not even half so stunning as the number of people who don't care about the welfare of other humans.

'Silence is the voice of complicity', and the worst thing about that, is the people who remain silent do not believe they are doing anything wrong.

'All it takes for evil to prevail, is for good people to do nothing' [my paraphrase]. It is conscious choice, to do good in this world, and bring down the demonic nature of HUMANKIND, bit by bit.

The first step, is admitting it's there; hiding behind mythology is an ugly human habit.

Maybe demons are our way of recognizing a person that actually has a mental problem. I am in that catagory with my daughter and her father. I left him before my 2nd was born cuz the evil in him was never going to change. I see the same in my 1st born. You know how they say the eyes are the door to your soul? Well, if you looked into these 2 peoples' eyes, you would see what that means. My daughter was diagnosed bi-polar, but I think it's more. I've had her in church, but she just doesn't get it, doesn't feel anything. She really is empty inside and it makes me sad because she is of me, and I'm not like that. Her father is the same. He laughed at me when I told him I could see the evil in him, so much it scared me into leaving him.

DEMONS: who are they.There was a vote in the heavens before man came to earth. present at the meeting was the spirits of all those who come to live on earth two thirds of all the host of heaven voted for satan, the rest voted for gods plan, satan stood for force god stood for freedom, we who live on earth chose freedom. satans followers became his demons, they were our brothers and sisters and they know our weeknesses, they are trying to ruin gods plan by tempting us. the most powerfull strategy they have is to convince people they dont exist. So then they cant be resisted.

God knows better.I think God defend us with His Angels, from the great wrong things,without we know that,because love us and take care of us every second,we are His children.
I read somewere,that God gives to the evil only the right to temptation
us(like is in the prayer Our Father...),if we accept his temptation the acts are ours ,for which we have the responsability.
That is whay we must say no to the bed wills,to reconized them,that they are the temptation of the evil,who whant to dirty our soul,to be like he.The bed wills in our mind,heart soul are from the evil characters, for which we open the door of our hearts...and at end we do wrong acts.(demoniq). So we are selfish,pround,angy,judge others mens,don't help,don't listen to God,to Jesus,to our pearents,our teachers,say bed words to the mens .......and so on.

I believe demons are a reality, but not how Hollywood present them. There are demons from every country known in this world, each has their own.
