I'd start using a nail clipper. At the very least clip your nails before a meeting. Everyone must think less of you because you publicly bite your nails. Chew some gum during the meeting if you have to. And absolutely wash your hands after using the restroom. Don't touch the door handle on the way out either!

Look your boss square in the eye and ask him, is there something wrong? Are you choking? I can perform the Heimlich manuever. Nail biting is a nervous habit, if you were more attuned to handling sensitive issues, this would go away, at least in public. Just make sure that after each nail biting episode that you have some hand sanitizer. You can get the travel size and it will fit into your pocket. Your boss is concerned about the health aspect, there are millions of germs in your nail bed between hand washing, from fecal matter to urine, and not to mention the blood that you draw from time to time. This is a very unhealthy habit. You could actually end up in the hospital from sepsis.

If you're female, go get a manicure or acrylic nails. You'll be spending so much for getting your nails done that it won't be worth it to bite them (nor can you bite acrylic nails). Consider too putting something that tastes nasty on your fingernails so that when you start to bite, you do the gagging instead of your boss. Hopefully that'll help.

Stop biting your nails. You shouldn't be doing that anyways...especially at work, it gives a very bad impression to the hire ups. The fact that you bite them after you use the rest rooms in just disgusting! I would gag too. It's like licking the toilet bowl Bi-proxy.

STOP. wait till you get home. That is kinda tacky. Try finding something else to do, like perhaps taking apad and pen with you into a meeting. fake like your jotting things down and scribble. At elast your finding other ways to operate your hands as oppsed to biting your nails.

Do you wash your hands? If not, that's probably why! I'd make sure he/she sees you doing that (which you should anyway...you'll be healthier!) and also nix the nail biting. It can be annoying to others. Try putting that pepper-based stuff on your nails, the kind they use for kids, to get them to stop.
Who knows? You might get a promotion or a raise!

Wash your hands after using the restroom really well. Then bite away. I would stop biting my nails if I were you. You just have to have self discipline.

Biting your nails alone is an outward very noticeable bad habit. Do what you can to stop. Think about how everyone else can see you and what it looks like to them (nervous, out of control, unsanitary, etc) Look at others around you that have bad habits, what do you think of them? Being aware of your actions and controlling your self is a sign of strength and intelligence also.
