He can and He will! Once Christ returns to the earth to rule over mankind, Satan will be cast out with his followers. They will no longer be able to tempt us. It is our free agency that makes the very existence of the "devil" necessary. It is up to us to resist the temptations Satan puts in front of us.

Don't apologize for asking any question as long as it is sincere.

The devil can and will be stopped in due season. Revelation tells us this. God has a purpose for letting things go on as they are at this time. But how many times has the Devil been stopped because of the prayers of the righteous? This we may not know until we meet God ourselves.

It is not the God that can't stop the devil, it is a trial set by the God on earth as how faithful we , as the creation towards the benevolent God. As God had agreed to the devil to carry on their mission to mislead people to fill the Hell. God had given us free will , it will leave us the choice between Good or Evil as God will
evaluate our faith as to Heaven or Hell we would be placed in the life after death.

God is Almighty and there is nothing he cannot do. The reason he is allowing Satan to have temporary control is because he challenged God's right to rule over the earth and said that humans do not need God and could rule themselves independently without God's help. God is answering Satans challenge by allowing man to try to live without his divine interference. Satan also said that humans would discontinue serving God if he( Satan and his demons)) were allowed to cause them pain and suffering. There have been and still are many who are proving Satan to be a liar, who love and serve God loyally, despite whatever persecution Satan brings upon them.
What has been the result of man ruling man without God intervening? Suffering and injustice, wars, crime and hatred.
God has promised to soon rid the earth of all those things and to destroy Satan and all who follow him. Satan can never say that God has not given him enough time. Although thousands of years is a long time to you and I, it is a very short amount of time to God, for the Bible says that a thousand years is like one day to him.
We need a righteous ruler who will be just and merciful. Human rulers can do nothing for us. (Psalm 146:3)
Look what Psalms 37:9-11 promises us--" For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth. For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be. But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace."
Soon the meek who inherit this earth will be under one government that will last forever. (See Daniel 2:44) No more will we have to put up with imperfect human rulers who can never bring an end to injustice, crime, terrorism or death itself. God's government will do all that and more.
Please be patient and have faith in God's sense of justice for soon the Devil's death sentence will be carried out.
I hope this helps you see things in a better light.

Hi, we have to remember that creation is still in rebellion against God and that He permits the devil to operate to weed out those who constantly reject His salvation and love, and so we are all still in a time of testing, and must decide one way or the other and not sit on the fence.
When the time comes for God to wrap it all up He will then imprison the devil forever in Hell along with those who hate Him.

The devil has been condemned and he will pay an extended visit to the lake of fire. God allows him his season, so that we might receive the greatest amount of good and that God might receive the greatest amount of glory. Our pride, which is sin, has to be brought under control in order for us to glorify God. We have to be brought to our lowest so that we can see the greatness of God and the potential that he has placed in all of us. We must grow spiritually, and we can only do so through spiritual warfare. If God did everything for us carte blanche without us putting forth any effort, then we would remain spiritually retarded. We were created to do great things, not to be mindless robots.

He already has. God did His part on Calvary by offering up His Only Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus did His part by being a willing sacrifice, our Passover Lamb, the Lamb of God slaim from the foundation of the world. The Holy Spirit is doing His part in convicting and convincing us of sin. Now, in this thing called time, we must do our part and place our will in line with His Will and His Word. The devil was defeated forever at the Cross. You must decide to side with Christ, the Victorious One.

ai agree wth mortgagegirl101.

He has the POWER. He will use that POWER at the appointed time. It is not yet that time as we are in the Age of Grace where everyone has freewill; a choice to follow God through Jesus Christ or reject him as there are 2 ways to live.

Read the Bible through from Genesis to Revelation. It will answer why, how and when.

its ok...these are the questions that need to be asked. Unfortunately i think you stated that you were an atheist so I doubt my answer will satisfy you. God can at any time he wants stop satan, it is in his will and plan to use satan to punish the wicked....

If you look throughout the bible in times where satan has power to do things it is lawys given to him by god. Job is a perfect example, he was not allowed to do anything to Job that god had not allowed. If satan truly had power he would kill us all. He is still under the control of almighty god until the day that God chooses to lock him away in hell forever...
