This is a great description of how I used to give my dog pills.

Make sure you keep the dog's mouth closed until she swallows. I think I also used to stroke his throat gently to encourage swallowing. I also used to make sure he had a drink before we started---or at least recently.
It's been a few years.
Good luck!

Dont Crush Them Up. Either Put The Pill In Something She Will Eat So She Cant See It, Or Have Someone Open Her Mouth And Hold The Pill Between Your Index Finger And Your Middle Finger And Put It In The Back Of Her Mouth. Doing It This Way Wont Hurt Her And Unless She Is An Aggressive Dog You Shouldn't Get Bitten.

If the dog can't have any human food to find the pill in, then put the pill at the back of the throat and hold her mouth closed and blow into her nose. This will force her to swallow. You can also rub the outside of the throat in a downward motion to push the pill into the eschophgus.

Pretend to give her a treat..when she is about to open her mouth, put the pill as far back in her throat as possible. Then, hold her muzzle closed and rub her neck underneath..eventually, she will swallow and you will feel it. Be careful, some dogs are smart and will pretend to swallow, so when you let them go, they throw the pill back out. Praise them ALOT while you are waiitng for her to swallow. If that doesnt work..hide the pill in with their food..and hope that they gulp it up instead of find it and leave it there.
ONE more suggestion..find the main ingredient in the dog food..whatever that is..put the pill in it. Example: If it is chicken..put the pill in some chicken leftovers and give it to her. This way here, she is only eating what she is allowed (as per the dog food you are giving her).
Good luck. Hope she feels better.

Every puppy I've had has been an schooling and given me extra perception and appreciation for the species. They no longer best have taught me the best way to be a larger proprietor however have taught me existence classes; endurance, unconditional love, regulations/barriers are principal and no longer merciless and the best way to manage a venture after which transfer on. The record is going on and on. Rescuing is a pleasant factor. One of my puppies is a "precise demands" case. My nearby safe haven rescued her from a top kill safe haven. I truthfully consider that had I no longer followed her she might were both positioned down or lived such a lot of her existence within the safe haven. I tear up on the proposal of it on the grounds that she is the sweetest little factor. I additionally made up our minds to deliver again and support out a organization in my field that rescues litters upon litters of dogs from in every single place the nation - almost always the South. So many shelters cannot even take care of the puppies they have already got and while a muddle of domestic dogs comes within the "out with the historic, in with the brand new" pronouncing is going into final result.

"No human food" just doesn't make sense. If she can eat something in dog food, let's say peas or canned pumpkin, then you could hide a pill in the stuff from a grocery store. I agree with getting away from the Science Diet and using something else. Which specific ingredients is she allergic to? Have you run an allergy panel yet?

My dog has to take pills too. if i can't use a treat or food i just have to open his mout and put it as far back as i can and then hold his mouth shut and rub his throat. He usually swallows it pretty easily. Recently my dog got very sick though and couldn't chew and wouldn't open his mouth wide enough for me to put the pill in so i crushed it up and disolved it the best i could in water and gave it to him through a medicine dropper.

Use a straw and a funnel or a piece of paper rolled into a cone. Tape the funnel to one end of the straw. Then push the other end of the straw into the side of her mouth so it sits just at the top of her throat then pour the crushed up pills down the funnel and tap the side of it a few times to make sure it all went down the straw. Good luck i hope this works for you as well as it did for me.

Peanut butter. Put the pills into a small globs of peanut butter. I prefer chunky peanut butter as they are less likely to figure out what the pill is.
Failing that, try wrapping them in bread or cheese. Usually one of the three work. These are the simplest methods.

I always put the pill in a little peanut butter and they eat it right up. If that doesn't work you need to place the pill at the back of their tongue, close there mouth with your hands and rub their throat until they swallow. Hope this helps..
