Well actually no... I am very polite and hold the door open for all people pull out my wifes chair in a resturant etc... But i wouldnt put my coat in a puddle as it is very expensive and to be honest she could just walk round it!!!!!

I would not like for a guy, to put his coat down so I could walk over it, because I would NOT do that. First of all, it's very nice if a guy would do that for you, but for you to actually walk over the coat is just rude. I mean, what the h€ll? Would you people like it, if someone would walk over your coat?

:(

I actually did lay my coat in a puddle for my wife this weekend. So I guess the answer is yes.

Why not. If she is the girl I truly love, I would want to do all those things for her. Look, what does it hurt to lay your coat in a puddle and protect her from getting splashed?

And I am sure every girl would love it.

laying a coat in a puddle is too much when you can step around it.
however holding open a door and pulling out a chair well thats just polite isnt it .

I like it when my man does this

no i wouldnt because then he has to spend the rest of the night carring around a wet muddy coat, i would rather him just tell me "watch out for the puddle"

This is more than one question, is the underlying idea about the last part? If so please say so. Anyone putting their coat In a puddle is slightly mad and doesn't mean anything, it is merely a gesture.

it is silly to lay a coat down... just carry her in your arms or on your back... it is more romantic that way and MUCH more chivalrious...

tis not gone... but the woman's movement is wiping it out... the gals got to decide if they want to be of equal standing with men or if they want men to be in their service :)
