Is this just another variation of the staged fighting like all star wrestling? If not it seems too brutal to actually be allowed, what do you think?

i watched that story on 60 minutes! i think that if your going to be seriously injuring people it shouldn't be allowed. they also referred to it as "human cock fighting" which is pretty horrible. America is just so hungry for death and pain they'll do anything. on the show they said more people watched that then the major league baseball that was aired the same evening. i think its kind of sad. it is way to violent to be participated in. the guy being interviewed said its all about the pain and anger, that's what men are hungry for. i dont agree with that. the way it was displayed on television i dont think is right.

This is not that much different than Boxing (kick-boxing, K1, etc.). It has had many fewer injuries than some other sports such as Golf, football, and boxing. The stats are there... take a few seconds and check it out.
Is it brutal... sure... just as much as boxing. The fights are stopped propperly, however, to prevent serious damage. Unlike boxing, you are not guaranteed brain damage.
Can it be fixed? I'm sure it can but I don't think it has reached that level. It does not look like people take a dive or submit. They do so only when they can't get out or win.

Originally boxing " the sweet science " was much like MMA fights. They eventually developed more and more rules . In UFC , K-1 , and other MMA fights there are less rules , The rules are in place to prevent fatalities . Some consider it brutal , I personally just consider it a legitamization . Full contact fights were happening illegally for many years , with far fewer if any rules .
I've got the scars to prove it .

Mixed Martial Arts is not staged. It is very Real. And for people to compare it to Chicken Fighting is just ridiculous. There has not been one person die from doing mixed martial arts. How many people die from boxing each year? There are several people die from boxing each year. There has not been a single death due to mixed martial arts, in fact you can even win a fight without throwing a single punch or kick. I think people should quit critizing mixed martial arts and start supporting it. It gets kids off the streets and teaches them respect, responsibility, and self discipline. It could make the average joe in life into a superstar. It is a sport like anything else so why try to ban it and discredit it?

UFC is nothing like staged wrestling.

The UFC is actually not as brutal as people may think. Now granted it is a combat sport so obviously there will be injuries, cuts and things like that. But the UFC has implememented various rules to ensure that the fights are safe and not just savage brutality. People have died in Boxing fights, to this day nobody has died from a UFC fight. Watch it for yourself, its not nearly as bad as some would like you to believe.

No UFC is not another variation of staged fighting...... They are highly disiplined athletes who train in a variety of mixed martial arts. Yes I think its a bit brutal, but no more so than Hockey or football......in fact more injuries occure in those sports than UFC.

whoever says that ufc and mma is brutal u should keep ur mouths shut because u have no idea about anything and u don't know skilll when u see it... if u don't like what i dothen thats fine if i don't like something u do then thats fine but when u try 2 talk about how bad it is and call it barbaric and try 2 take away the right 2 pratice my life style then i have 2 step in and tell u what i think i so if u don't know what ur talking about then shut up. if u knew anything about ufc u would know that it is when 2 trained martial artist train and then put there skills 2 the test... if u don't like then don't get in the cage and don't watch it... and u won't even notice it so SHUT UP!

It's been around for nearly 10 years now and you are just thinking of that? It's not very dangerous at all, in fact many times the fight gets stop early in order for a fighter to avoid injury

What's the difference between this and boxing? Boxing is as brutal and people have died, been seriously injured or have suffered long term injuries.

Those taking part know the risks.

if you think ufc is faked like wrestling, you are crazy! i watch every chance i get, and i have only seen one match that looked fake. it was the fight with eastman(ex nfl guy) where he got knocked out with one solid punch. of course every fight i saw with him in it, he got knocked out. as to wether it is too brutal, in boxing(which i think IS fake) they let an injured person take time to get back up and take a pounding. in ufc and pride, they allow fighters to go to the ground and finish them before they can recover. as yet noone has died from injuries from in ufc. there is probably at least one death per year in sanctioned boxing matches. go liddell!! beat titos ***!!

I think its great, I love to watch it. Just like in Roman times when people watched fights to the death. Alot of People love violence. Its kind of sad but its true. Its real & there is nothing fake about it.
