Last yr some friends and I decided we wanted to take a Carnival cruise and leave our husbands at home. We invited our sisters along. One of the people I was traveling with never got her luggage. For the whole blasted cruise, she only had the underwear she had on and the pair she'd packed with her gown in a little carry on. Every day she got a different story: "It's still in houston but we're flying it to Cancun and it will catch up with you there." "We know it's on the ship somewhere and we're going to put a flyer in everyone's room this evening asking if they received luggage that wasn't theirs." (incidently, they didn't put the flyer in the rooms until the LAST NIGHT of the cruise). "We've located your luggage, but there's no way to get it to you since we are en route back to Galveston so we will ship it to your home address. My friend NEVER got her luggage. STILL hasn't received it or compensation for it!
On the final night of our cruise, another member of our party blew her knee out in the hall in front of the casino. Of course we contacted the infirmary immediately. The dr never showed up! My sister, who is an orthopedic nurse relocated the patella and we LIMPED down to the infirmary for an ace bandage so we could isolate the knee from additional damage.
In the room I shared with my sister, neither the phone nor the television worked. The TV wasn't much of a problem since we were seldom in the room to watch it, but not having a phone meant we had to walk to the other cabins to coordinate activities - and we were on opposite ends of the ship b/c we booked at the last minute and couldn't get contiguous space on the ship. BTW, I'm mobility impaired.
FINALLY, I bought a bottle of Crown Royal for my husband and my sister bought a bottle for hers. Of course ALL the cruise lines hold your liquor until you get back to port so you'll buy your drinks in their facilities instead of mix your own back in your room so we didn't think anything about opening the box we were given prior to leaving the ship.
When we got home and opened the box, it held two bottles of cheap vodka and two bottles of cheap rum instead of the Crown we'd paid for.
For all this trouble, Carnival offered us each $20 in ship credits for our next cruise.

10 years ago I went on a cruise with my mother and a church group. We went on the Celebrity ship called the Horizon. To make a long story short..our trip to Bermuda was cut short because the ship was found to have Legionaries contamination. We were suppose to be in Bermuda a week, we only got to stay two days and that was in a hotel because we could not re board the ship after it docked. They finally informed us we had a half hour for us to get our belongings off the ship and they would be making arrangements for us to return home. My poor mother was deathly afraid of flying, but that was the only way for us to get back. We received our money back for the trip and although some of the passengers did become ill, nothing happened to my mom or myself.

Yeah....I ended up marrying one of the security guards I met on my first cruise. Foreign guy. Spent 4 crazy-in-love years with him before I found out he was a criminal. I almost lost my daughter by my former husband due to him, went thru a nasty custody battle, horrible divorce, and thankfully the day his trial was to start, he pled guilty and spared us that. He spent two years in prison and then was deported. Not an isolated incident, so passengers beware of "romances with crewmembers"!!!

yeah, i went on a carnival cruise 2 years ago. ill never go on another carnival ship again, because i was waiting for an elevator and a 10 pound of chunk of purple decorative plaster fell and hit me on the head nocking me to the floor. and if that was bad enough, i saw numerous crew members walk by seeing me on the floor. and then i couldnt find the infirmary
