I also think you should get a dog from a dog shelter, first of all they are lonely dogs that someone threw away and for this reason are longing to be loved. Second I don't think you should get a pup, because they need to much attention and have to be taught many things, and we moms are through with that kind of work, so get her one that all ready knows at least that the floor is not a potty place.

Your mom should pick out her own dog. A dog is an expensive and time consuming member of the family. One should never be given as a surprise and the person who will be caring for it should be vital in selecting it.
If you really want to get her a dog, you can buy her all of the needed equipment and give her a gift certificate allowing her to pick her own.

It depends on your mom's age, ability to get around, her living space. You get where I'm going with this. Older and apartment--Chiwahwah seems to be the most popular. Has her own home and lives by herself--I have a chow/mix, and make sure a male/neutered for her. He is very protective of me and my house. He was also very easy to train, but he does need to be confined outside cuz he does run. Either one of these breeds will give her nothing but undying love and loyalty.

it depends....if she lives in a apartment ->a small dog and if she doesn't have a lot of time to take the dog out for walks ,it should be a lazy dog....i recommend a pekinez

my sister bought a toi maltese for my mom
and she loves the dog
my mom spends every min she can to be with the dog
so u should get a little toi maltese i think every women
that i met wants one cuz there so loving

None at all unless you're absolutely certain that she wants one and can look after it. Dogs are not good Christmas presents.

i would get her a basset hound not only are they cute.but they are comical.and they love to be loved and truly love you back.i also have a Chihuahua too so cute and friendly not all are snappy.you also can go to the pound.
