i find deep breathing the best way to relax, i also carry a bottle of lavender aromatherapy oil and i take a few sniffs when feeling anxious. goodluck. Another idea is to wear a rubber band on your wrist (loose of course) and when you are having an attack flick the rubber band.

Well I suffer from anxiety attacks for over 19 years Im 36 years old never did before wanted to take medications, but I do now I take xanax because the attacks became unbereable.. I feel your pain although the xanax help I try to take just 5 mg mostly at night and I have read somewhere that red meat triggers attacks so now I dont eat red meat at all I diet a lot I eat only veggies and brown rice turkey and boil or baked chicken is hard but It has made a difference even before I started taking the medication. When having an anxiety attack have someone or your self rub your feet for some reason it relax your whole body...Keep in mind that it will pass and that you know what you are going trough that is how I cope with it.Go to a doctor and explain wht is happening to you.I could not afford a doctor so I had to kind of do wht I have to do in order to treat this horrible thing. Also it helps if everyday you take a little time to strecth and do some sort of exercise like walking or something dont have to be much or exauting just like 30 minutes a day.I deal with this everyday of my life.and Im doing good. but for real xanax is the only thing that work good on this thing I Know they say they are addictive but what else is there? everything else is so expensive and my life has changed for the better, I Just try to keep the dose low and just take it at night. good luck.

Alcohol works temporarily but then depression follows. See a doc and get a script. Cymbalta works wonders. You will probably only have to use it for 3-6 months. Good Luck, I have been through the whole realm.
