do you mean the AUTOPLAY a cd gives?

if so...

My computer - right click on the cd drive - then click properties - click the AUTOPLAY tab - and from there select the top option and if you wish, select it to default to 'take no action;

no worries

Theres a wizard somewhere in xp. At some point you may have got it asking you what you want to do when you insert a disc, you may have ticked 'search' and then clicked 'always perform this action'.
Another option is 'autoplay'.
Mikes post will take you to this wizard and you can change the default action when you insert a disc.
