Perhaps they don't understand it like humans do, but I know that animals can sense how you feel from body language. That is how all animals communicate best, so your cat can probably see that you are stressed.

yes the cat knows somethings wrong and wants to cheer u up. so that's why shes rubbing on ur leg. and trying to kiss on u. now rub her ears. and feed her. and she will know its not her u r up set with. shes your only best-est friend. let her cheer u up now.

yes they do some times they feel what your feeling and can go into depression as well so bad they get sick have been there just keep you chin up and remember your kitty needs you so try in cheer up

of course your kitty understands that you are stressed. i believe alllll animals feel for us in our times of need and want to help us. this is why they try to be funny or cuddly when we are down. they love us as much as we love them. good luck=)

Cats pick up very well humans emotions, sometimes they may not care but they understand how you feel! ;)

he doesn't exactly KNOW it but, animals sense when you are emotionally upset. i had one years ago that would try to comfort me when i was upset.
