Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, our Lord and Savior.

Jesus planned to start a new church. This is shown when he said, "And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. (Matthew 16:18)

With love in Christ.

Historically Jesus or Yeshua was of the Jewish Essene sects. There ways and teachings are the only thing that comes close to that of Jesus and especially John the baptist portrayal. Also he never condemned the Essene in any passages, only the other sects and the main sects at the time were Essene, Pharisees, Sadduces, and their scribes. Also he was a Nazarene/Nazirene as evident in the words, "He shall be a Nazerene." No such place existed, but Essene prettty much were nazarenes, separate from the other jewish sects and much evidence supports their principles. Nazirene means consecrated to God. So he was a Jewish Essene as a child on to a young adult IF we think of history and what is found in the dead sea srolls and other things, but he was always a Nazirene/Nazarene. I personally feel he was a Nazarene Mystic.

And Jesus didn't come to make an religion btw, he said he didn't come to destroy the law but to fulfill.

Most do not choose...They are born into the religion.
Those who do choose tend to believe what the priest/pastor/leader tells them...without checking whether they are correct or not.
In most religions, if such a check was made, it would become clear that traditions of men is being taught instead of what is in the Bible.
Example..If a religion teaches that alcohol consumption is wrong, it fails to consider the example set by Jesus when he turned water to wine. It is the overindulgence in alcohol that the Bible warns about, not just drinking some.
(1 Timothy 5:23) Do not drink water any longer, but use a little wine for the sake of your stomach and your frequent cases of sickness.

Jesus was a Jew. If your mother is a Jew, then you are born a Jew. It's part of their culture and faith. A Jew can grow up and decide to convert to another religion, just like anyone one else of a different religion. But culturally a Jew is always a Jew. God knew who Jesus was going to be born to. This was determined prior.

Most people are born into a religious family and baptized or received into that faith. It is the family's duty to raise that child in their faith. As an adult, we all have free-will to decide if we believe and will continue in that faith or not. It's all about faith and reason.

Jesus was and is the Messiah - God incarnate.
Whatever you do with this information will tell you who you are.
Are you follower of Christ?
If so - then you're a Christian (hence the name Christ-ian).
Read the Bible yourself and tell me what you think about your question. who resembles Christ - is his disciple.
