If killing made you happy seek treatment. You probably had numerous briefings when you returned asking question like that. Go seek help. I've been to Afghanistan and Iraq. I did a job, MP gunner, I fired my weapon effectively and had not problem doing it but it didn't make me happy or sad. Go ask your corpman who you need to go see.

hello i would like to say the job your guys are doing is a very difficult one and you should be proud that you have been out there and served your country. I can not begin to imagine how it must feel to do your work. At the end of the day you are trained to kill ppl if its necessary you should never question yourself about that. You may need some help now your back from Iraq because from what i have seen on the TV some of the things you must have seen and lived with are awful. Take care and please don't question yourself for doing your job. :)

You are killer not a hero, don't every think that you have done anything which you should be proud of. Yes, people from USA may write to you that you did aright job but go deep into yourself and think what you did. You killed innocent people, USA did all this for oil nothing else. Do you have any idea how many kids were killed , i curse you you will never live a normal or easy life and it is true for all the Americans. They will have natural disaster soon, all those tears, broken hearts won't go empty.
You ever heard cry of those old women's their daughters were raped, their kids killed, their house burned and they keep telling GOD show us how you do same to America.

It has to come back to you all, you ave kicked a football wait it will bounce back. God is great.

I am always pro-soldier; but I am anti-war.

Personally I don't see how the US is being served in Iraq.
Even the twisted information provided by our commander-in-chief is openly and obviously skewed at best.

Our government admits that it had no valid reason to take us into Iraq!

As for you enjoying killing people, I'm sorry to hear that.
I believe that as you get older, the joy in killing will be lessened.

Most combat veterans are unhappy with the memories of taking lives.

Killer or hero?
What is the comparison?
To the people you shot, you are a killer.
To the people you may have saved, you are a hero.
To the commander-in-chief, you are a pawn.

Don't feel guilty about what you've done. Your government sent you in and you did what you were trained to do. It probably wasn't 'happiness' rather than a relieved sense of 'me or them'. I think it'd be easy to confuse the two.

As for me, whilst I don't like the thought of war, I have friends serving right now and I am extremely proud of them. I am proud that Australia is in there with the US, even though I don't agree entirely that we should be there as I don't see it as our war.

You guys are doing the toughest job on earth right now. War is not easy; you see and do things that when you're young, you never think you'll ever do.

Be proud of yourself and your mates and your country. You were called up to serve your country and you survived. As long as you weren't out there torturing/raping people before killing them, you're a hero in my book.

I'm sorry that you had to go through all of that....We don't show enough appreciation for the men and women that do what you do to keep the rest of us safe....just remember that who you are and what you do when you are fighting a war is very different then who you are and what you do when you come home....you need to put that behind you as best you can.....time will help the anger and the pain fade....thank you for what you did and I wish you well....Happy holidays...glad you made it back

You did what you had to do; so you could actually be considered as both. Of course you had to defend yourself, but it shouldn't make you 'happy' to kill strangers regardless of the circumstances.

The war itself is unjustified, and that's completely out of your control. As you said, you served your country, and you should be proud!

Glad you made it home safe!

i think we needed to go but disagree with the way it was handled... but a fully support anyone who is willing to risk their lives for this country no matter the cost... if anyone else was in there getting shot at they would have either unwillingly choked or done the same as you

i think you have every right to feel pride you served our country and did a great job at it

I can't judge you nor can I pass any comments. I can only tell you that on the final day of your life and if you accept Christ, you'll realise that the only true hero in this world is Jesus Christ alone. Any act of love done in the name of Christ is considered heroic, that's all I can say.
