Mother Mary, Jesus' mother, was His earthly teacher and guide, and shared much of His duties to the Father.

Hi Art, The Blessed Virgin is the most unique Human Being ever next to Jesus, She is the new Eve as Jesus is the new Adam.
Although She is not divine She is the greatest Saint in Heaven way above even the Hosts of Angels, and She has the unique position of being the first fruits of the Redemption of Christ.
The title that I love most though is that She is our Heavenly Mother and looks after us Her beloved children, and God so loves Her as His first Daughter that He cannot refuse Her anything, and so we should turn to Her more in these times of tribulation and be confident that She will obtain many graces for us.
God Bless.

The virgin birth originates from pagan religion and was never originally in the scriptures. It was added so that the gentile(those who are spiritually disenfranchised) could accept the scriptures because it was similar to their pagan mystery religions. It has been proven by historians and the early church fathers that no birth narrative was present in the original scriptures that belonged to the true seekers and followers of Yeshua.
Allegorically speaking(which is the way the scriptures are to be read), the virgin birth symbolizes how one must make the lower nature of one's self into the good ground(sower and seed parable) so that the kingdom can began to manifest inside you. In the story of Adam and Eve, Adam was also born of a virgin earth but since he lacked experimental knowledge he could not bring about the kingdom within himself. So he had to eat from the tree of duality(good and evil) in order to be able to evolve himself to completion.
So the answer is no Mary isn't a prototype of Jesus. They are both human beings. Genuine followers of Yeshua(Jesus) knew that he "...was justified by fulfilling the Law. He was the Christ of God, since not one of the rest of mankind had observed the Law completely. Had any one else fulfilled the commandments of the Law, he would have been the Christ." Hence, when we "...thus fulfill the law, [we] are able to become Christs" (Hippolytus, Refut. Omn. Haer. vii. 34).
And that “supernatural union of a man and God... In their eyes, Jesus of Nazareth was a mere mortal, the legitimate son of Joseph and Mary: but he was the best and wisest of the human race, selected as the worthy instrument to restore upon earth the worship of the true and supreme Deity. When he was baptized in the Jordan, the Christ, the first of the aeons, the Son of God himself, descended on Jesus in the form of a dove, to inhabit his mind, and direct his actions during the allotted period of his ministry” (Gibbon; The Decline & Fall of the Roman Empire, V.4, P.366).
When you began to unloose your mind from the lifestyle and ways of this world, you too will allegorically be born of a virgin and you will began your path home to the Edenic kingdom that is within you. Walk in Yeshua's footsteps and you will start to become like him.
Peace
