This is not appropriate at all and is shameful. One day she will regret this.

What does his being an attorney have to do with anything? Yes, it is disrespectful to go against a parent's wishes like this--if you are in their home. Why don't they go to the boyfriend's house? Surely an attorney can afford his own place ...

If the home belongs to the father then he is within his rights to be offended and shouldn't be put into that position. Being an attorney doesn't mean he has class or manners.

If you're living with your parents, they're nice enough to let you stay in their house once you've graduated high school, you should respect them enough to live by their rules. If your parents don't want your boyfriend in your bedroom with the door closed in their house then respect that. Go over to his place, if the bf's an attorney surely he's got his own place. It's not about etiqutte it's about being just plain disrespectful and rude to your parents who were kind enough and love you enough to let you stay in their house during your adult life.

youre kidding right? come on now-where's the disrespect? i'm lost...i don't see the disresepect.-i mean you are talking about people in ther 20's. as for the father..it upsets him? why? because he's probably used to being controlling? if anything he sounds selfish. probably didn't take care of himself for years..was probably a grump all them years..and now that' he's dying he can't ACTUALLY LIVE WHAT LIFE HE HAS..he still has to ***** about his kid? sounds like no matter what this guy wouldn't be happy.
so no-there is no disrespect going on. what's disrespectful is taking life for granted. tell the old man to stop being grumpy and take time out to smell the roses and to tell his daughter he loves her.
unconditionaly. because you don't get respect...unless you give it.
and ain't no one gonna argue with that.

if the children are under the father's roof, it is his house and his rules, and if they don't like it they can find thier own place. No matter if they were 48 years old.

Of course it's disrespecftul and wrong. Rocco's comment above shows how society throws its elders away when it doesn't need them, and that's a shame.
