My boyfriend does the same thing as well. Please don't respond with mean and negative comments and attack me for this. I do it for security and I enjoy it as well.

Don't ever let anyone tell you that you are not normal. You are just as normal as anyone else on this forum. I know exactly how you feel because I do the same thing, and I'm a guy. I do not have any problems. I am a completely normal person and it does not affect my life in anyway. By all means if it makes you feel comfortable, do it. There are people out there that will never understand how you feel and will try to put you down because of it. Some people may even have the same feelings about things but they don't want anybody to know and will put others down to make themselves feel better. Everyone has a way to deal with their insecurities and yours is not different. Tell your boyfriend all of this as well. You are lucky to have someone right there with you who understands exactly how you feel and will never make you feel bad about it. I hope that I have helped and have a Merry Christmas! If you ever want to have a friend who you can talk to about anything else, e-mail me at Zoomrunner@aol.com. I am not a creep and you do not have to talk to me if you don't want to.
P.S. I too am 17.

no there is nothing wrong with sleeping with care bears, or watching them, i know i enjoy watching the movie. Actually i think it is good that you watch them, cause the message that they give to all people of all ages is a good positive message, to not hit you feelings, and everyone is ok, they just need to look inside and they will find that the world is not as bad, or neither are they. The care bears are a very positive thing, and their movies and cartoons on tv give a positive message to those who watch it. So keep on watching them. Cause you are getting some really positive thinking from them. Don't worry about what others think, it is your chose and i think it is an healthy chose.
I love all cartoons my self and i am older then you are , they are made for every one . So take heart and do as you will .

Well, let's put it this way, Heather, I am 56, and I still like to hope that my children are looking after my Carly Koaley [koala], which I got at about 8 or 9; and I probably periodically slept with til about 15 I suppose.
But over the years, even as an adult, I have made the bed and then liked to place him in the 'tuck' of the pillow, where he can be seen by all.
I don't mind my Carly Koaley at all.
In fact, I am now in the throes of writing a story similar to 'Pooh Bear' for the kids.

Hey, I still sleep with teddy bears sometimes and watch cartoons at 26. What do you think they made channels like Boomerang for? Do you really thing 5 year olds are watching the Smurfs at 3 AM? I don't think so.

1. If you absolutely can't sleep without them, then it sounds like a problem.

2. If one day you get married and still have the bears in your bed, then it's a problem.

3. And unless it becomes a fetish thing, I say stick with the bears if it comforts you and don't worry about what other people think.

I would never make fun of anyone! and especially in this Forum. I want you and your boyfriend to know that I, at the age of 65, can fall asleep in a New York Heartbeat, if my "cat" comes to bed with me. I have always had a "cat", since I was small, the only pet I could keep, as we lived in apartments! Well if my cat, doesn't come to bed with me, I can't sleep, so I go looking for him and once I have him , I wrap my hands around his "tummy" and he curls up against my "tummy", and we fall asleep. Zack has been my bed partner for 10-years, and I can't even think about that day! One thing for sure, you will ALWAYS have your "Care Bears"! Enjoy them, hug them, talk to them, cry and laugh with them. I totally understand, and it is very, very normal. I know, I studied the subject. You and your boyfriend are perfectly normal, so from ZACK and ME - keep hugging and have yourself a very Merry Christmas.

You just explained why you do it so there's nothing wrong with it. Most people that age don't because they find it boring or don't have a nostalgic feeling while watching them. I still sleep with my baby blanket in my bed and I'm 28. At least I don't drag it everywhere I go anymore.
